Getting Started in Sport Betting
Many people think that getting started in sport betting is difficult. It is not. It is not recommended that you jump to an online betting site and place bets without a care in the world, you can do.
You may want to put a bit more thought into it than this, though. That is what this page is about. Think of it as a quick ‘step by step’ to ensuring that you bet properly.
Choosing an Online Betting Site
This is where things are going to begin for you. You need to choose the right place to gamble. There are plenty of things to think about here, so we are going to sum it up in bullet point form:
- Choose an online betting site which has a good reputation in the industry. Check reviews on sites like this one to get an idea as to whether the place is a good place to gamble or not.
- Choose an online betting site which offers the sports and events you want to bet on.
- Check the odds. It is impossible for a site to always have the best odds, but they should be decent most of the time.
- Check the bonuses (more on that in the next section)
- Ideally, they should have live betting. If they stream some sports, then this is going to be a bonus.
Basically, look for a site which is going to be a good fit for you. If you skip to the bottom of this page, you will find a list of some of the best sport betting sites that we can recommend.
Casino & Betting Bonuses
We do not suggest that you choose an online betting site based upon bonuses alone, mostly because we have seen some terrible sites offer some amazing bonuses. You get lured in, spend some money, only to find that the gambling experience is abysmal.
If everything else about the site is fine, then by all means use the betting bonuses to narrow down your site search a little more. Just do not let it be the ‘be all and end all’ of your online betting site search.
Choosing the sports to bet on
We recommend that you only bet on sports that you are familiar with. It makes the betting process a little bit easier. For example; I would never bet on the Premier League because I am not familiar with the players there.
I would not have the foggiest who has the greatest chance of scoring a goal in a game, because I just do not follow the Premier League. I am more a Championship man. I certainly would never bet on rugby league because I have no idea of the rules.
Choosing which bets are right for you
Generally speaking, you should steer clear of simply choosing the winner of a match. The odds here are going to be abysmal. While the chances of you winning are going to be pretty large if you go for this bet, the return is never going to be decent enough.
Instead, we recommend that you go for some of the more unique bets, or maybe combining your bets. For example; a good football accumulator is a fantastic way to pass by a dreary Saturday (unless you lose, then it makes it drearier)
Should you bet on live sports?
Absolutely! In fact, this is the main way that we gamble nowadays. This it is so important that you understand a little bit about how the sport you are betting on works.
In order to be successful with live gambling, you need to be able to have a read on what is happening on the field. The odds will change quickly with live gambling, so you need to be able to react quickly if you want to score the biggest wins.
You may also wish to use the ‘cash out’ feature that many online betting sites have. The idea is that you place a bet before the match. You can then cash out your bet at any time as long as your bet is winning.
This is ideal if you think the tides of the match are going to turn at a moment’s notice. You won’t get the biggest gains this way, but at least you will walk away with something.
Live betting is perfect for when you are watching a match on TV, so find an online betting site which offers mobile betting.
